Well, in a well-phrased blog post by Francois Ajenstat on MSDN Technet, it’s announced that the release of SQL Server 2008 RTM will not happen on February - which the article describes as a “marketing” effort. So now we’re looking at the 1st RTM release of SQL 2008 in Q3 of this year so… after the summer.
The version that will be released for now (already 100,000 downloads) is the Community Technology Preview… AKA CTP. Gotta love acronyms in the IT world. We’ve succeeded in bastardising all the languages of the words into vowel-minimised blurbs.
Interestingly enough, they’re keeping the pricing at the same (aggresively low) levels to compete with DB2/Oracle etc…
