Well Chegg is proposing …. yup RENT textbooks… I found this pretty smart as a business model (and of course, capitalist… why not have community funded libraries offer textbook loans ?
Nonetheless…. it’s a good idea, and it is sweeping the USA - Business 2.0, Newsweek and many other of the mainstream news media outlets are covering it.. and it’s garnering good “independant” press in the blogosphere.
Not sure if they service Canadian Universities such as Ryerson, UQAM, Concordia, McGill, Polytechniquel, University of Toronto, UBC, etc… etc etc… but possibly in the future.
The closing point ? They offer to plant a tree for every textbook rental. How green of ‘em! I’m luvin’ it.
